Hollywood has done some movies about chance events and found some good story lines to spin. Here’s our dream cast and a list of films to get you thinking about who should be in our movie.
Vote for your favorite actors. You can vote for as many as you like.
If you want to know more about the movie, check out the About page. If you’re ready to post your own story of a chance event, just go to Submit Your Story.
Disclaimer: We don’t have everybody’s agent on speed-dial. But show some love and we’ll make an offer to the actors with the most votes.
Why did you choose those particular actors for us to vote on?
We took a look at other movies that are about chance, destiny, karma or serendipity. Guess who was cast in them? All the actors on our “dream cast” list.
(500) Days of Summer
Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are the stars in this summer comedy of 2009.
Yes Man
Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel star in this 2008 movie about a man who challenges himself to say “yes” to everything for an entire year.
The Darjeeling Limited
Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman are the stars of this soulful train trip across India. Released in 2007.
Serendipity
This charming romance, released in 2001, stars John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale as star-crossed lovers who finally connect through chance events. Jeremy Piven and Bridget Moynahan have strong supporting roles.
Happenstance
The large effects of very small things are what drive the story of Happenstance, released in 2000 and starring Audrey Tautou.
Run Lola Run
In 1998 Run Lola Run (also known as Lola rennt) showed what a universe with multiple options would look like. Franka Potente stars in this crime caper. Later on, 2004, she played Matt Damon’s girlfriend in “The Bourne Identity” and had a repeat appearance in 2008, in “The Bourne Conspiracy.”
Sliding Doors
Gwyneth Paltrow is the star of this unusual romance released in 1998. There is a strange moment at the beginning of the movie: time reverses itself and a second version of Gwyneth’s character is created.
Slumdog Millionaire
This dramatic romance from 2009 won eight Oscars. It’s the story of a teenager who grew up in the slums of Mumbai, but chance gives him a lucky break when he appears on the Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Freida Pinto and Dev Patel are the stars.

Gweyneth Paltrow
I haven’t seen many movies during the last 15 years or so. I’ve been on a journey of discovering my own ‘original’ consciousness, or state of mind, that exists outside of the various projections into the collective mind if you will. A sort of withdrawal into my own inner sanctuary after my concieved escape from the ‘system’ that was driving me mad. Now, I’m cycling back around to a point of mindful engagement with the various systems we all create with the focus of bringing more love into the scene. My recommendation of Gwyneth Paltrow comes from a chance conversation about this film I had with my brother about 5 years ago. My brother has always had an interest in film and the social, psychological, and spiritual dynamics involved. I haven’t seen it but , I like what he said about her and this film. I hope this counts! Incidentally, now I’m very interested in films : )

What about Don Cheadle for our dream cast? He was in “Crash,” a movie that involved chance events and their consequences. Who else should we add to the list?

If I could have an actress play my role in a movie documentary, I would love to have Natalie Portman! :) I think she’d portray my story well. :) She is a very talented actress.
